Love God, Love Others
Decision Days
In our helter-skelter society there are times when we need to throw up a stop sign in front of ourselves and ask "am I addressing life's most important things? What do I believe? In whom do I believe? What shall I do because of what I believe?" And the right answer is "I will demonstrate what I believe, accept God's help, make the course corrections that He deserves, establish strong human partnerships, and rejoice."
Some of us believe, indeed, that Jesus is God's Son, and that He came to be our Savior; but we have not surrendered in Christian baptism, the act of obedient faith. Between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM on August 22, some of our ministers, elders, and spouses will be available in the worship center to baptize, share, and celebrate.
Some of us believe in Jesus Christ, have confessed Him as Lord, have repented and become His followers, and have been buried in Christian baptism. We live and work in central Ohio now and worship with Worthington Christian Church. A transfer of active membership into this faith-partnership would bless individuals, families, and the church. That (as well as baptisms) can happen at any service any week. But an influx of new vitality, commitment, and life on Sunday, August 23, would be a great blessing.
Commandments
You know how interested I can become in commercials. Here's another one. I don't have the foggiest notion what it is selling. I hope it is not something harmful. I just like the commercial.
A young fellow is shooting pool, and apparently he has started playing on a table that had been reserved by someone else — who came up behind him and said, "you're playing on our table, so you need to move." "Yeah, you and whose army are going to make me?" he said, before he looked around, and up, to find a big guy with a menacing entourage.
"Who says I have to love my neighbor as myself?" The one who has made you, who sustains you, who holds your future in His hand, and who is to be loved with all your heart, soul, and mind! That's who!
