Follow the Leader

This is a true story, I believe. It is the kind of thing that has happened more than once.

Two guys were out boating one day, on a river that they had not traveled before. And they were having a great time. Then they hit a sand bar. Try as they might they couldn't get loose. But along came a local, and after some sweat they were able to break free. And their helper said, "Follow me down the river and I'll be able to get you to where you want to go." They did. And the trip went smoothly, until they decided to move outside the channel through which he was leading them. You guessed it. They plowed way up on another sand bar. "You didn't follow me, did you?"

Going our own way can have short-term thrills and long-term consequences. Going Christ's way offers some great times, some short-term challenges and pain, but permanent, perfect consequences. He's the way. Let's follow Jesus!
