Trusting God to Turn Your Trial into a Testimony

In 1955 the Quaker Oats company tucked a special piece of paper in every box of Puffed Rice and Puffed Wheat cereal. On each paper was printed a free deed of sale for a piece of property in the Yukon Territory of Canada. So everyone purchasing a box of cereal instantly became a landowner in that faraway place. The only catch was that the land was only one square inch big.

Not much of a prize.

As believers we have been given something much better. God has reserved a piece of heaven for us — an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade (1 Peter 1:4). When we reach that faraway place we will enjoy new life free from the sufferings and trials of this world. Our saved souls will be filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy. And we will be with Jesus, the One we have loved from afar.

Heaven is the better place. Since we know this, let’s stop clinging to the things of this earth. Instead let’s focus our gaze above and live each day like we are going somewhere — because, praise God, we are!
